The events below are open to the public and are sponsored and hosted by Mount Olivet Conference & Retreat Center.

Growing Through Grief

Sat., April 5th, 20259:00am – 4:00pm

Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, severed relationships, the loss of dreams, or more, this day retreat will provide an opportunity for you to grow and heal. Experientially focused, the day includes options for processing grief through music, art, movement, prayer, meditation, and time in nature. In addition, participants can meet briefly with a counselor, spiritual director, or pastor for support and consultation.

A sliding scale fee allows you to pay what you can. Cost includes programming, lunch, beverage/snack bar throughout the day, use of retreat center amenities (whirlpool, sauna, trails, labyrinth, etc.), and tax. Register at the link below.

Leadership team:

Mary Lord, MM, MT-BC is a Board-Certified Music Therapist with a Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy. At Grace Hospice she provides live music at the bedside for hospice patients and families, helps coordinate bereavement sessions using music-focused interventions and is a passionate educator for the clinical use of music therapy in end-of-life care.

Nancy Loyd, MA is the Grief Support Supervisor at Grace Hospice as well as a Certified Spiritual Director. Nancy has companioned others through serious illness, end-of-life, grief and transition for over 20 years.

Sara Watne, MA is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who works with clients age10 years and up through adulthood at Mount Olivet Counseling Center. She supports her clients’ abilities to find strength and growth by stepping into their own dignity and competency as individuals and in their relationships. Areas of interest include grief, trauma recovery, parenting support, mood and anxiety disorders and relationship issues.

Nikki Knudson-Dalal is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) who works with individuals, couples, older adults and families at Mount Olivet Counseling Center. Nikki provides support and guidance to clients who are dealing with issues that are impacting their mental health and overall well-being, using a strengths-based approach. Areas of interest include chemical health/substance abuse, effective communication, parenting support, family of origin work, relational issues and mood and anxiety disorders.

Rev. Kurt Kalland is Associate Pastor and Pastoral Adviser to the congregational care team at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church.

Rev. Theresa F. Latini is executive director of Mount Olivet Conference & Retreat Center and an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA).

Rev. Jeremy Bork is program director at Mount Olivet Conference & Retreat Center, an ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America, and a Spiritual Director in training.
